
Philadelphia Union Begin Preseason Training Next Week

CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union announced today their 2019 preseason schedule, centered around a return to the club's base in Clearwater, Florida for the fifth consecutive season. The team will host two camps in Clearwater, preceded by in-market training at the University of Pennsylvania beginning next week.
The Union report to Philadelphia for entrance physicals on Monday, January 21, followed by on-field training at Penn's indoor field located at Penn Park (230 S 30th St, Philadelphia PA 19104) from Tuesday, January 22 - Saturday, January 26.
Union Head Coach Jim Curtin is scheduled to speak to members of the media following the team's first day of on-field training on Tuesday, January 22. Members of the media interested in attending this or any Union training session should RSVP with Erica Scheer in order to request additional interviews or receive the most up-to-date information on availability, timing and location.
Following a week of in-market training, the Union fly to Florida to begin the first of two sessions in Clearwater. The first camp runs from Monday, January 28 through Thursday, February 7 and includes scrimmages at the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex against the New York Red Bulls (Wednesday, January 30 / 3:00 p.m. ET), the University of South Florida (Saturday, February 2 / 7:00 p.m. ET) and Birmingham Legion FC (Wednesday, February 6 / 7:00 p.m. ET).
After a return to Philadelphia from February 8-10, the Union head back to Clearwater for a second camp that runs from Monday, February 11 - Sunday, February 24. This camp includes a scrimmage against Orlando City SC at Omni ChampionsGate in Champions Gate, FL (Tuesday, February 12 / 12:00 p.m. ET), as well as preseason matches that will be announced in the near future.
The Union will then fly back to Philadelphia on Sunday, February 24 ahead of the 2019 Major League Soccer regular season, which begins with a home contest against Toronto FC on Saturday, March 2.
