
Philadelphia Union & Philadelphia Union Foundation Launch "FIGHT FOR PHILLYâÃâ¬Ã Campaign

CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union and the Philadelphia Union Foundation today announced "FIGHT FOR PHILLY". The "FIGHT FOR PHILLY" initiative will provide thousands of items of Personal Protective Equipment and thousands of meals to frontline workers and vulnerable populations in the greater Philadelphia area while highlighting the work of men and women fighting on the frontlines of the covid-19 pandemic and inspiring fans to continue engaging in safe practices. For fans interested in getting involved in the relief effort, "FIGHT FOR PHILLY" t-shirts are available to purchase, and all net proceeds will go toward the platform's charitable efforts.
Thanks to the donation, the Philadelphia Union and Philadelphia Union Foundation will be able to grow the community assistance program to help create a series of weekly charitable efforts and social content supporting those most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The "FIGHT FOR PHILLY" platform will begin this week and continue with a new charitable act each week.
Week 1: 1,000 lunches to healthcare workers to local hospitals.
Week 2: 3,000 branded face shields delivered to healthcare providers across the greater Philadelphia area.
Week 3: 1,000 PPE donated to healthcare locations and grocery stores.
Week 4: 1,000 meals delivered to residents in Chester, PA.
Week 5 : 1,000 PPE delivered to healthcare providers across the greater Philadelphia area.
"The Union continue to be inspired by the heroic men and women who are on the frontlines of this pandemic and are fighting with them," said Tim McDermott, Philadelphia Union President. "Now more than ever, it's important to give back to the community that we love and call home. I am incredibly grateful to Captain Morgan for their support and continued partnership of the Union. Philly is stronger when we are fighting together."
"FIGHT FOR PHILLY" also encompasses some of the Philadelphia Union and Philadelphia Union Foundation's prior and ongoing initiatives which includes a previously announced game day employee assistance fund that supports part-time Subaru Park staff, partnering with Spectra to donate stadium food to a local food bank, and lighting Subaru Park blue as a part of the local "Philly Shines Blue" and national "Light It Blue" campaigns to show appreciation for healthcare workers.
