Phil Fox Named CHL Rookie of the Month for December

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (January 4) - The Central Hockey League announced on Wednesday that Brahmas forward Phil Fox has been named the 50/50 Central/CHL Rookie of the Month for December.

In 14 December games, Fox scored five goals and assisted on eight more. His season total of 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) is second on the Brahmas and fifth among all CHL rookies.

The Stillwater, MN native spent the last four years playing for Northern Michigan University and served as team captain during the 2010-11 season. In 155 games for the Wildcats, he netted 65 points (40 goals, 25 assists).

As a member of the Brahmas, Fox made an instant impact. He scored his first goal in just the third game of the season and recorded his first professional hat trick in his ninth game.

The Brahmas have seen positive results as a team when getting production from their rookie forward. In games in which Fox has collected a point this season, Texas is 10-4-2. Conversely, when he plays and does not get on the board, the team is 3-7-3. 10 of his 13 points in December came in Brahmas wins. To boot, the rookie has scored a team-high three game-winning goals in 2011-12, including two in the month of December.

The Brahmas are on the road until Sunday, January 15 when they host the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the NYTEX Sports Centre at 5:00pm.
