Allen, Texas - Former Allen Americans defenseman Jordie Benn made his NHL debut Tuesday night for the Dallas Stars, in a 5-4 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Jordie Benn became the first member of the Allen Americans alumni to play in a National Hockey League game on Tuesday night, assisting on the Stars first goal in the 5-4 loss to the Wings. Jordie had one point and was even on the night in 22 shifts with 16 minutes of ice-time for the Stars.

"I had a few butterflies tonight," admitted Benn, playing in his first regular season professional game with little brother Jamie Benn. "The system is the same thing we are playing in Austin, which made it easier to step right in."

Jordie and Jamie Benn are not the only brother combination to play for the Dallas Stars organization; they join the brotherly tandems of Neil and Paul Broten, and Derian and Kevin Hatcher.

Benn played in the Central Hockey League with the Allen Americans in their inaugural season in 2009-2010, scoring 18 points (9 goals, 9 assists)

"We are very proud of Jordie and his accomplishments," said Americans Head Coach and GM Dwight Mullins. "Jordie has made the most of his opportunities and is being rewarded for it."

The Allen Americans return to the ice this Friday, January 6, against the Laredo Bucks at 7:05 PM. Tickets on sale now at www.allenamericans.com www.ticketmaster.com (972) 912-1000
