Sioux Falls Canaries News Release

Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants announced today that they have exercised their option on All-Star slugger Brandon Sing for the 2011 season.

Sing is coming off a record breaking season in which he eclipsed his own league record for home runs with 27 and led the league with an amazing .702 slugging percentage. He finished second on the team with a .349 average and 73 RBI while finishing second in the league with a .490 on-base percentage.

"We are thrilled to have Brandon back with us," said Pheasants manager Steve Shirley. "Brandon's numbers speak for himself. He played a vital role for us last season and we look forward to having him back this season. Not only is he a great player, but a great person and someone you want in your clubhouse."

The Arlington, TN native was a member of the North Division All-Star Team and was also named to the 2010 Postseason All-Star Team and to the Baseball America 2010 All-Independent Leagues Team.

Sing helped lead the Pheasants to a record 63 win season and both the first and second half North Division titles. The Pheasants also took home the North Division postseason championship and advanced to the American Association Championship Series.

The Pheasants are preparing for the upcoming 2011 season. The regular season schedule is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
