ROME - The Asheville Tourists played a complete game on Sunday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium. Asheville pitched well, had a great offensive approach, and made several highlight reel defensive plays in an 8-3 win over the Rome Braves.

Offensively, the Tourists worked a season-high six walks and broke out their biggest individual inning of the year; a five-run seventh that put the game away. Matt McLaughlin, Casey Golden, and Taylor Synder all made spectacular defensive plays that took hits away from Rome.

Asheville took a 1-0 lead on Snyder's second inning RBI double. Rome managed a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth; however, Asheville responded immediately. Bret Boswell tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth and Golden lined an RBI single to left that put Asheville in front 3-2.

In the seventh, the Tourists worked back-to-back walks to begin the inning. Shael Mendoza, Sean Bouchard, and McLaughlin all picked up RBI hits in the inning while Golden stole home and Snyder scored on a wild pitch.

Derrik Watson and Erick Julio combined to pitch the final three innings for Asheville and limited the Braves to only one unearned run. The Tourists will attempt to win the series outright on Monday morning. The first pitch is scheduled for 10:30am.
