Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Phantoms have signed defenseman Ty Farmer to a USHL tender, Youngstown Head Coach & General Manager Anthony Noreen announced.

The tender is for the 2014-15 season, and it will take the place of the Phantoms' first-round selection in the 2014 USHL Phase One draft, which is scheduled for May 5.

"We're really excited to add a player like Ty to our team for next season," said Noreen. "He is one of the elite defensemen in the 1998 birth class. He brings a two-way element to our team, and he thinks the game at a high level.

"For as good of a player as we expect Ty to be, he's also as good or better of a person. He's going to have a bright future with us."

Farmer, 16, is a native of O'Fallon, Missouri. He skated last season for the St. Louis AAA Blues U16, where he recorded 12 points (two goals, 10 assists) over 31 games in the Tier 1 League regular season.

"I am very excited to be joining the Youngstown Phantoms next season," said Farmer. "I am thankful for the opportunity, and I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and working hard next season."

Measuring in at 5'10" and 176 pounds, the defenseman is committed to attend Michigan State University following his USHL career.
