Phantoms Partner with Valley Youth House for 2015 Teddy Bear Toss
December 10, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Lehigh Valley Phantoms News Release
Lehigh Valley, PA - It's not everyday that fans are encouraged to throw things onto the ice.
But that's exactly what the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, are hoping fans will do this Saturday, December 12 for the team's Teddy Bear Toss presented by Dan's Camera City. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used teddy bears or stuffed animals to PPL Center that evening and throw them onto the ice when the Phantoms score their first goal against the Springfield Falcons. The bears and stuffed animals will then be donated to Valley Youth House to be distributed to children across the Lehigh Valley during the holiday season.
"We're thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Valley Youth House for our second Teddy Bear Toss here in the Lehigh Valley," said Phantoms Executive Vice President Chris Porreca. "Their commitment to improving the lives of children and families here in the Lehigh Valley is in perfect alignment with what the Teddy Bear Toss is all about."
During the team's inaugural Teddy Bear Toss at PPL Center, the Phantoms collected 1,728 bears and stuffed animals thanks to Brett Hextall's conversion 6:08 into the second period of Lehigh Valley's showdown with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on December 6, 2014.
"Valley Youth House is thrilled to be partnering with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for the second consecutive year as the recipient of the Teddy Bear Toss," said Vice President, Development & Marketing at Valley Youth House, Christina Schoemaker. "Last year, Valley Youth House received over 1,700 stuffed animals which brought smiles and added so much cheer to the holidays for the children and youth served by our mission. Thank you to the Phantoms for supporting our work to empower resilient young people in establishing promising futures."
Founded in 1973, Valley Youth House's mission is to empower and strengthen the lives of children, youth and families through inclusive programming that builds resiliency and fosters growth and independence. For information, visit www.valleyyouthhouse.org.

Friday's game features a t-shirt giveaway where the first 8,500 fans in attendance receive a free Ugly Holiday Sweater Phantoms shirt.
