Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Youngstown Phantoms (5-8-1,11pts) scored a season high six goals last Saturday in a 6-3 win over Indiana. The Phantoms look for the offense to keep firing as they battle two Western Conference opponents this weekend. On Friday, November 19, the Phantoms take on the Omaha Lancers (6-4-2,14pts) and on Saturday, November 20, they play the Dubuque Fighting Saints (9-3-1,19pts), both games starting at 7:30 p.m. (EST).

As the Phantoms look to start their latest winning streak, they are getting healthier as the days pass. Forward Ty Loney returned to the line-up last weekend and defenseman Scott Mayfield returns this weekend after competing at the World Junior 'A' Challenge.

"We have not been healthy for a while," said Carr. "With a healthy line-up we have an opportunity to win every game. We are pretty competitive when we are firing on all cylinders and we are looking forward to see how we match up with Dubuque and Omaha."

The Lancers and Fighting Saints will not make it easy on the Phantoms offense as both teams come into the weekend with the top ranked goalies in the league. Matt Morris from Dubuque is ranked first in the USHL with a 1.47 goals-against-average and Omaha's John Keeney is second with a 1.76 gaa.

"Our forwards need to get to the net," said forward Andrew Sinelli. "We need to put the shots on goal and have our guy's crash down low. Our plan on offense remains the same no matter who we are playing."

On the flip side, Phantoms netminder Matt O'Connor will have to continue his strong play in net as the Fighting Saints come into the contest leading the USHL in goals scored with 55. Dubuque also has four players ranked in the top ten in league scoring.

"We need to make sure we utilize the last change," said Carr. "We will stick to what we do well and make sure that the guys we put on the ice do their jobs."
