Adirondack Phantoms News Release
(WILKES-BARRE, Pa., March 17, 2003) - Neil Little made 21 saves to record his fourth shutout of the year and defenseman Brad Tiley scored twice as the Philadelphia Phantoms posted a 3-0 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tonight at the First Union Arena.
Little stopped all 16 shots he faced over the first two periods before facing just five in the third. He has won three straight starts for the first time this season and has registered all four of Philadelphia's shutouts in 2002-03. Little now has 12 career shutouts and nine as a Phantom.
Tiley recorded his first multi-goal game of the year and Kirby Law also scored for Philadelphia, which completed its four-game road trip at 3-1. The Phantoms have won the last four meetings with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and own a 6-3 lead in the season series. The final match-up between the teams is scheduled for April 6 in Philadelphia.
Goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin made 21 saves for the Penguins, who have lost four of their last five overall and four in a row at home.
Philadelphia scored the lone goal of the opening stanza during the only power-play opportunity of the period. With Wilkes-Barre defenseman Ross Lupaschuk in the box serving a slashing minor, Mark Greig and Jamie Wright worked the puck to Tiley, who uncorked a shot from the point that sailed into the top left corner of the net at 6:41.
Tiley's fifth goal of the year was his first since Feb. 15 at Cincinnati, while Greig has five points (2G, 3A) in his last five games.
Following a scoreless second period, the teams combined for just five shots over the first12-plus minutes until Law netted an insurance goal for the Phantoms. Patrick Sharp began the play with a pass to Ladislav Kohn, who skated behind the net and then found Law stationed between the circles for a quick one-timer with 7:17 remaining.
The goal was Law's 19th of the year and third in as many games. Both Law and Sharp have five points in their last three games.
Tiley capped the scoring with a shorthanded, empty-net goal at the 18:23 mark.
The Phantoms return home to face the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks on Wednesday and Friday - both at 7:05 p.m. Philadelphia then plays at Worcester on Saturday and hosts the Hartford Wolf Pack on Sunday at 6:05 p.m.
Phantoms Notes: Tonight's game was originally scheduled for Feb. 17, but got postponed due to inclement weather in both the Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre areas ... Law played in his 300th AHL game ... Little also went unbeaten in three straight starts (2-0-1) from Feb. 5-9 ... Philadelphia is 2-1 in its stretch of seven games in 10 days ... The Phantoms are 15-5-1 all-time when playing in Wilkes-Barre.
