Amerks Hit the Road for Two

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans embark on their final two-game road trip of the regular season this week, as they battle the defending Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves and the Milwaukee Admirals.

Rochester (26-28-14-4, 70 points) enters the week in second place in the Central Division and in the 10th and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Rochester is currently on a three-game unbeaten streak (2-0-1-0) and has moved into a tie with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (30-29-5-5) and Milwaukee (26-25-13-5). The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins occupy the eighth spot in the playoff race and the Admirals are in ninth.

The Amerks begin the week at Chicago on Friday, March 21st. Rochester won the only meeting of the season against the Wolves, earning a 5-2 victory at The Blue Cross Arena on November 10th. Chicago (35-24-7-4, 81 points) is in second place in the West Division. The game on Friday night is an 8:30 p.m. start and will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and on the web at www.amerks.com.

The road trip ends with a 2:12 p.m. contest on Saturday, March 22nd against the Milwaukee Admirals. The Admirals (70 points) are in fifth place in the West Division. Milwaukee is on a three-game winless streak (0-2-0-1). The Admirals and Amerks finish their regular season series that night. Rochester defeated Milwaukee, 7-3, on November 29th at The BCA. The game will be broadcast on WHTK 2180-AM and on the web at www.amerks.com.

News and Notes:

The Amerks have a five-point cushion over the 11th place Philadelphia Phantoms... The Amerks are one tie away from equaling their all-time record of 15 set during 1993-94 and 2001-02 seasons... Rochester also registered 16 ties in 1969-70, but that was before the inception of overtime... The Season Ticket Holder's Skate with Players is scheduled for Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the ESL Sports Centre.

Big Mac: Rookie Sean McMorrow is the Rochester Americans' nominee for the 2002-03 HG Insurance/American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The 21-year-old forward has attended over 20 community events during the season, involving such charities as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Cub Scouts, the HealthNow "Fun with Fitness Program," and the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester.
