PGA superstar Ryan Palmer to drop the puck Saturday when the Gorillas host Rio Grande Valley

AMARILLO, TX – There will be a special guest to drop the puck on Saturday night when the Amarillo Gorillas host the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 7 pm at The Jungle in the Amarillo Civic Center.

Amarillo native Ryan Palmer, who finished 37th on the PGA Money tour and won the FUNAI Classic at the Walt Disney World Resort will be dropping the puck on Saturday night. Palmer will also take time to sign autographs right up until game time.

Palmer has just launched his new charitable foundation called the Ryan Palmer Foundation and that night the Gorillas will auction off a special jersey with Palmer's name, autograph and no. 37 on it, signifying his success on the PGA Tour. All proceeds from the auction of that Ryan Palmer jersey will go to the foundation.

All fans who wish to contribute to the Ryan Palmer foundation can send a donation to P.O. Box 31945, Amarillo, TX 79120-1943. A website will be launched in the near future.

There are other big events and activities planned for Saturday night's game. Fans are encouraged to give to the High Plains Food Bank and can drop off 10 non-perishable food items to the Gorillas Hockey Office on Wednesday, Friday and on game day Saturday or the Civic Center Box Office on game day only and receive a ticket to Saturday's game. There is a limit of four tickets per family.

The night is sponsored by the Surgery Center on Soncy Northwest Texas Sports Medicine Center and the first 1,000 fans will receive pucks. The Gorillas will wear their camouflage jerseys and an auction follows in the Ape Escape immediately after the game.

It is also Military night and members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard and Marines who show their military ID at the Gorillas hockey office on receive $8 tickets.

The Gorillas-Rio Grande Valley game wraps up a busy holiday week which actually gets underway tonight (Wednesday) when Amarillo faces the New Mexico Scorpions at Tingley Coliseum. Fans can tune into the game on 1440 Am The Score beginning with the Farmer's Insurance Group Warm Up Show at 7:40 pm followed by Amarillo Gorillas Hockey Presented by Bank of America at 8 p.m.

After a break for Thanksgiving, the Gorillas will host the Austin Ice Bats on Friday night at 7 p.m. at The Jungle in the Amarillo Civic Center. It is the annual Run From Your Relatives Night with 50 cent hot dogs.
