GAME NIGHT PREVIEW

Lubbock Cotton Kings (6-4-0) @ Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (3-8-1)

DATE: 11/24/04 TIME: 7:30 pm LOCATION: Dodge Arena (Hidalgo, Tx)

BEES CONTINUE TO LOOK FOR AN END TO THE CURRENT STREAK

The Rio Grande Killer Bees will seek to put an end to an eight-game winless streak tonight, as they complete the season series with the Lubbock Cotton Kings. After tonight's game, the Killer Bees will hit the road for five games before returning back to the Dodge Arena on December 10th. The Bees will complete the week on the road with stops in San Angelo on Friday and Saturday in Amarillo. The Cotton Kings are 2-3-0 on the road and come into the Dodge Arena with only 10 games played, which is a CHL tying low.

THE SERIES

Tonight wraps up the season home-and-home series, as the Bees look to dodge the season's two game series sweep with the teams meeting for the fifth time all-time. The Killer Bees are 2-2-0 all-time against Lubbock and are led in the series by Matic Kralj (1g,2a, 3pts.). The series all-time leader in scoring is Lubbock's Paul Fioroni (2g,2a) and Emery Olauson (4a), who each have 4 points. Lubbock won 3-1 in their only other visit to the Dodge Arena (3/9/04).

THE LAST MEETING

11/16/04 - Jeremy Kyte recorded a pair of goals and Shawn Conschafter stopped 27 of 28 shots to lead the Lubbock Cotton Kings to a 5-1 win over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees Tuesday afternoon in a "Kids Day" game for area students in the South Plains community.

Each team traded off power play goals in the opening period, with Sean Gillam registering the Bees goal with 3:36 remaining in the period to answer Jason Maxwell's goal. The Bees power play tally ended a four-game streak in which the Bees were without a power play goal and were 0 for 25 in the span.

The Bees surrendered two goals in the second period to the 'Kings and Lubbock took a 3-1 edge into the second intermission. Derick Martin tallied his first of the season on a 4-on-4 even strength goal 4:58 into the contest and then Jeremy Kyte closed out the second period scoring 5:56 later on an opportunity Bees goaltender Jeff Levy would like to have back.

The Cotton Kings sent the Bees back to the Valley with a sour taste in their mouth with goals by Stacey Bauman and Jeremy Kyte in the third period to seal the 5-1 win.
