Racine reassigned from St. John's by Toronto

SOUTHAVEN—The Memphis RiverKings of the C.H.L. announced today (Wednesday) that former RiverKings net-minder Jean-Francois Racine has been reassigned to them by the Toronto Maple Leafs. Racine was taken by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round (90th overall) in the 2000 N.H.L Draft.

Racine played two seasons with the RiverKings; 2002-2003, where he helped them to their second of back-to-back championships, and last season. Racine has played parts of two seasons with the St John's Maple Leafs of the A.H.L. He played in 9 games with the Leafs last season and has played in six games so far this season posting a 2.91 G.A.A and a saves percentage of 91.7%.

In his two seasons with the RiverKings, the 22 year old Racine played in 65 games. He won 37 games, lost 19, and had a Goals-Against of 2.73. He spit time in net with current RiverKings head coach Mark Richards in the '02-'03 season.

"We are excited to have J. F. back" RiverKings Head Coach Mark Richards said today. Richards also said that he plans to carry three goaltenders for the immediate future. Racine will join David Lemanowicz and Daniel Boisclair on the roster.

St John's, the top affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has two goalies with N.H.L experience on their roster now that former Pittsburg Penguin Jean-Sebastien Aubin has been assigned to St John's. Aubin joined Mikael Tellqvist, who has seen time with Toronto.

The RiverKings will play a special Thanksgiving night game tomorrow night as the Fort Worth Brahmas visit the DeSoto Civic Center at 7:05. You can hear it live on "Your Radio Home for the RiverKings" Sports 56 WHBQ.
