Yusmeiro Petit struck out seven in seven innings and Jay Caligiuri homered, scoring the go-ahead run for the Binghamton Mets, who beat the Portland Sea Dogs 4-1 at NYSEG Stadium Sunday. The B-Mets took four of five in the series.
Binghamton (49-63) went on top in the fourth. Kaz Matsui singled with one out for Binghamton's first hit off Portland's Anibal Sanchez and stole second, coming home on a Wayne Lydon single up the middle for a 1-0 B-Mets lead.

The B-Mets got to Sanchez (3-2) again with two out in the seventh when Caligiuri hit his 14th homer of the year. Portland (59-53) reliever Conor Brooks came on to face Corey Ragsdale, who reached with a bunt-base hit. Bobby Malek then singled to right, moving Ragsdale to second. Ragsdale scored when the throw to third by rightfielder Brandon Moss went into the Portland dugout for a 3-1 B-Mets lead.
Binghamton got its final run in the eighth when Matsui, playing in his final rehab game with the B-Mets, led off with a ground-rule double, stole third and scored on a Mike Jacobs single up the middle. Jeremy Hill pitched the final two innings, earning his third save in four chances.
Monday, the B-Mets continue their eight-game homestand, starting a three-game series with the Norwich Navigators. Orlando Roman (3-4, 5.14) will start for Binghamton against Chris Begg (5-6, 3.25) of Norwich.
