Peterborough Petes News Release
The Peterborough Petes are pleased to announce a partnership with Kawartha Food Share to help alleviate hunger in our community. Each month, members of the Peterborough Petes will volunteer at Kawartha Food Share and within the community to assist in getting food out to those in need in Peterborough and County.
Petes' Head Coach Jody Hull, along with several players and staff, will volunteer at the Food Share at 5pm on Monday, November 18th along with the Peterborough Rotary Club. The Petes will also present a cheque to Kawartha Food Share, which is located at 665 Neal Drive in Peterborough.
The players, coaches, and staff have also teamed up with Kawartha Food Share's Warehouse Manager, John Alleyne, to help purchase food each month for Kawartha Food Share's 37 Member Agencies. This sense of volunteerism and community involvement, including working alongside other agencies such as the Rotary Club, helps Kawartha Food Share in its quest to alleviate hunger in our community.
"Year after year, the Peterborough Petes have been great supporters of Kawartha Food Share" said Dave Ralph, Chair of Kawartha Food Share.
"Kawartha Food Share is a great organization that provides necessary resources to families in our community, and we are pleased to partner with them," said Petes' General Manager Michael Oke. "Our players, coaches, and staff are excited to continue giving back to the organization that supports our community so consistently."
The hunger problem in Peterborough continues to grow. Every month over 7,700 people access food banks in the City and County of Peterborough and over 158,000 nutritious snacks and meals are served to 17,000 children daily in area schools. Kawartha Food Share is grateful for every can of food and every dollar donated to help fight hunger.
