
Alumni Update: Thornton Crowned Battle of the Blades Campion

He was a bruiser on the ice through 18 years of NHL competition, and now Scott Thornton is showing off the graceful side of his game that seldom came to the forefront over the course of his pro career.
The former Bull and native of London who currently resides in Collingwood and his partner Amanda Evora have been crowned Battle of the Blades champions!
A former two-time United States pairs silver medalist, Amanda Evora and Thornton edged out the competition in former NHL blueliners Jason Strudwick and Mathieu Dandenault. The winning pair has donated $100,000 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
The popular series hosted by Hockey Night in Canada personality Ron MacLean wraps up its fourth season. Past winners include Craig Simpson and Valeri Bure.
Thornton played in Belleville from 1987-1990, and was a first round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1989.
Fans can check out one final episode of the series that featuresnew footage and reflections from judges and participants over the seven-week season. The one hour episode airs on December 1st at 8:00pm.
