Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - Peterborough Petes General Manager and Vice President of Operations Michael Oke announced today that the team has acquired 2007-born goaltender Matthew Koprowski from the Owen Sound Attack in exchange for a conditional 15th round pick (SOO) in 2028.
Koprowski, a 2007-born goaltender from Komoka, ON, was originally selected by the Attack in the fourth round, 72nd overall, of the 2023 OHL Priority Selection from the Elgin Middlesex Canucks U16s. In January of 2024, Koprowski signed with the Attack after playing in 34 games with the Komoka Kings in the GOJHL. Over the past two seasons, Koprowski has played in 51 games for Owen Sound, holding a record of 16-23-6, while also putting up a 4.32 GAA and a .870 SV%. In 2025, Koprowski attended St. Louis Blues training camp as an undrafted free agent invite, after attending Toronto Maple Leafs development camp earlier that summer.
"Matthew is a big goaltender with OHL experience," noted Oke. "He's a good addition to our goaltending depth moving forward."
The conditional 15th round pick will become an 11th round pick if Koprowski remains with the Petes beyond January 10, 2027.
The Petes are back in action on Thursday, October 1, when they host the Erie Otters. The game is presented by PETE 99.7 FM. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Tickets can still be purchased, calling (705) 743-3561, or by visiting the PMC Box Office during regular business hours. The game will be broadcast live on YourTV Peterborough, FloHockey, and Freq 90.5.
