Peterson Dominates, Mets Defeat Miracle 5-1

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The St. Lucie Mets ended their home schedule by beating the Fort Myers Miracle 5-1 at First Data Field on Sunday.

Mets starter David Peterson delivered a dominant performance. The big lefty did not give up and earned run over seven innings. He allowed just two singles, walked one and struck out three while throwing 101 pitches.

Peterson retired 15 Miracle batters in a row at one point. He has now fired 18 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run.

Second baseman Blake Tiberi had his best game as a Met. He went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and a RBI. He scored in the second inning to tie the game 1-1. Tiberi then belted a go-ahead RBI double in the fourth inning.

Dan Rizzie went 2 for 3 with two RBI.

Jeremy Vasquez went 2 for 4 with a double and run.

Trey Cobb pitched the final two innings without allowing a run to get his second save.

Brandon Nimmo (finger) played in his second rehab game. He went 1 for 3 with a single and a walk while playing eight innings in right field.

The Mets (26-35, 53-75) are finished with their home schedule. The team will spend the final week of the season on the road. Monday's doubleheader in Lakeland against the Flying Tigers begins at 5 p.m.
