Peter Mueller Named to Top 125 Players in WHL History

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips, in conjunction with the WHL, announced that Peter Mueller, who skated for the Silvertips from 2005-07 as a forward, has been named to the list of Top 125 Players in Western Hockey League history as selected by a committed of League historians.

As a part of the WHL's 50th Season celebrations, fans will be able to have their say in October alongside the committee by way of an online vote available at www.WHL.ca. Beginning in January, the WHL will count down and release the Top 50 WHL Players of All-Time.

Mueller, the WHL's Rookie of the Year in 2005-06, earned 136 career points in 103 games with the Silvertips while helping guide the club to back-to-back division titles. In 2006-07, the native of Bloomington, Minn. posted a career-high 78 points (23g-57a) in 81 games, ranking second on the Silvertips single-season assist list (57) while earning a Second-Team selection to the CHL All-Star Team and a Western Conference All-Star Selection.

He represented the Silvertips in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game (2006) and helped guide the United States to a Bronze Medal in the 2006-07 World Junior Championships (Under-20). Following his WHL career, Mueller was selected in the first round (eighth overall) by the Arizona Coyotes in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, and in 2007-08 was named NHL Rookie of the Month (January) and named a selection to the NHL YoungStars Game in Atlanta.

Mueller, currently skating in Sweden with the Malmo Redhawks (SHL), has suited up in 297 career NHL games with Arizona, Colorado and Florida, collecting 160 points (63g-97a).

The list includes WHL greats from the League's inception in 1966 through to players that suited up as recently as last season. In total, 88 forwards, 27 defensemen, and 10 goaltenders made the list. Players were selected based on a combination of the impact they had while playing in the WHL and their careers upon graduating from the League.

The committee was comprised of members of the media and individuals who have demonstrated long-standing contributions to the WHL, along with members the WHL Office staff. The WHL thanks Gregg Drinnan, Norm Dueck, Peter Loubardias, Bob Ridley, Dan Russell, Rob Vanstone, Dean Vrooman and Bill Willms for their assistance with this project.

The Silvertips open their 13th season in the WHL on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m., visiting the Prince George Cougars (1520 AM KXA/WHL Live). New Silvertips radio voice Mike Benton will handle coverage 30 minutes prior to opening face-off with the Silvertips pregame show, presented by Everett Bone and Joint.
