Sacramento River Cats News Release
West Sacramento, Calif. - Five early runs were too much to overcome for the Sacramento River Cats (33-45) as they fell 10-6 to the Reno Aces (41-37) on Sunday.
Reno stormed Sacramento lefty Enmanuel De Jesus (3-2) for three runs in the first and two in the second for a commanding 5-0 lead. The 25-year-old finished the day with five runs (four earned) on seven hits and zero walks while striking out three in 4.0 innings.
First baseman Jason Krizan got Sacramento on the board in the fourth when he followed up third baseman David Villar's double with an RBI two-bagger. Two innings later, Krizan made it 6-2 when his sacrifice fly plated second baseman Isan Díaz.
Since June 2, Krizan is 20-for-51 (.392) with 13 runs, eight doubles, 11 RBIs, and a 1.047 OPS in 14 games.
Down 10-2 in the seventh, catcher Jhonny Pereda lined a 365-foot home run with a 106.5 MPH exit velocity, his third home run of the season.
Sacramento added on in the seventh when designated hitter Willie Calhoun singled home Díaz, and Villar plated center fielder Heliot Ramos with a sacrifice fly.
The River Cats will have a quick turnaround, heading east to take on Salt Lake on the Fourth of July. Right-hander Raynel Espinal (5-3, 4.35) will take on lefty Jake Kalish (8-2, 2.54) at 5:35 p.m. (PT) on Monday. Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.
Additional Notes
Ramos finished the day 2-for-5 with a run and a double. Since May 28, Ramos is batting .282 with 18 runs, five doubles, three home runs, and 12 RBIs.
Rehabbing lefty José Álvarez struck out one while allowing one run on three hits in 2.0 innings of relief.
