Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees sent a sellout crowd of 14,354 at Smith's Ballpark home happy on Monday night with a 7-4 victory over the Sacramento River Cats. The win improved the Bees to 37-42 on the season while Sacramento dropped to 33-46.

The River Cats jumped out early with two runs in the first, but the Bees battled back to tie things up with a pair of runs in the third on a Jose Rojas single and Jo Adell run scoring double play. Sacramento regained the lead with another two runs in the fourth, but Salt Lake again answered in the bottom half of the inning on a Kyle Kasser productive out and Jake Palomaki single.

From there it was all Bees as Kasser brought in another run in in the sixth, Adell drove a solo homer deep onto the left field berm in the seventh and Kasser added a third RBI on a sac fly in the eighth. Kasser finished with 3 RBI in his first Triple-A start.

Jake Kalish got the start for the Bees but lasted just three innings while giving up two runs. Grant Dayton allowed the other two runs in two innings of relief. Jonathan Aro, Ryan Smith, Zach Weiss and Jose Marte combined to finish the final four innings allowing only one hit to seal the victory. Aro picked up his third win of the season while Jose Marte locked down his second save.

The sellout at Smith's Ballpark was the largest home crowd for the Bees since 2018. Sacramento and Salt Lake will take Tuesday off before starting up the series again on Wednesday night.
