Perdomo has rare blown save, Swing slides past the Whitecaps

COMSTOCK PARK - Jose Martinez came up with a two-out RBI single to center for Quad Cities in top of the eleventh inning and provided the wining margin in a 4-3 victory over the Whitecaps.

Orlando Perdomo blew a save for just the second time this season in 16 opportunities when Randy Roth hit his Midwest League leading 12th home run. The blast came with two out and the bases empty in the bottom of the ninth and tied the game, 3-3.

Will Rhymes hit two sacrifice flies to centerfield for the Whitecaps. The first was in the fourth inning and drove in Dusty Ryan to break a scoreless tie. Ryan also scored on Rhymes' sacrifice in the sixth, which made the score, 3-1 in favor of the Whitecaps.

Adam Rodgers clubbed his second home run of the season in the sixth inning for Quad Cities to tie the game, 1-1.

West Michigan stored twice in the bottom of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead. Mike Hollimon grounded to first to drive in the first run before the sac fly by Rhymes.

Bryan Anderson drove in Randy Roth with a single for the Swing in the top of the seventh that trimmed the Whitecaps lead to 3-2.

Luke French pitched seven innings for the Whitecaps and allowed two runs on six hits without a walk and with seven strikeouts.

West Michigan stranded 11 runners on base, compared to just 6 for Quad Cities.
