Augusta Lynx News Release
Colin Pepperall recorded a hat trick while Allan Sirois scored twice to propel the Greenville Grrrowl to a 5-3 win over the Augusta Lynx on Tuesday night at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.
Chris Leinweber recorded the lone marker of the first period as he scored a power play goal at 9:21 from Brian Passmore and Nicolas Corbeil to put the Lynx ahead 1-0 after one period of play.
From there, Pepperall and Sirois would go to work, scoring four of their five goals in the second period. Brian Passmore and BJ Gaustad wedged in markers around the four Greenville goals as Augusta left the second period trailing 4-3.
In the third Sirois tacked on the insurance marker for the Grrrowl, who recorded their 40th win of the season.
Cam Ellsworth stopped 35 shots for the win while Jason Wolfe took the loss, turning aside 31 of 36 shots. Augusta finished the night 2-for-5 on the power play, while the Grrrowl ended the evening at 1-for-3.
Augusta will get back to action on Friday night in Columbia before returning to face the Inferno at 7:35 pm on Saturday night. Sunday will bring a matinee match against the Florida Everblades, slated for a 4:05 pm faceoff. All games can be heard live on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630, with the Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show starting one half-hour before game time.
