Peoria Quiets Beloit Bats

Beloit Sky Carp News Release
Beloit's hitters couldn't muster a hit through six innings and fell 3-1 to Peoria on Thursday night at Dozer Park.
The Sky Carp's lone hit came via the longball, as Victor Mesa Jr poked an opposite field homer to left center to lead off the seventh, ending Edgar Manzo's no-hit bid at six innings.
While Manzo looked sharp, Beloit hurler Pat Monteverde bounced back after allowing a first inning homer to Jacob Buchberger.
The southpaw would run into some bad luck throughout his five innings of work, working around six hits to allow three runs - two of which were earned.
After Monteverde's departure, Matt Givin tossed two 1-2-3 frames and Robinson Martinez followed with a scoreless eighth to keep the contest within reach for Beloit.
However, after Mesa's homer, Peoria sent out closer Gianluca Dalatri and the righty shut down the Beloit bats again.
In a three inning save, Dalatri struck out six and allowed just one base runner: a Mesa walk with two outs in the ninth.
The series will resume on Friday night in downtown Peoria, with first pitch set for 6:35pm. Fans can listen to the action for free on the Big Radio App.
