
Encarnacion-Strand Earns Second Midwest League Player of the Month Honor

Cedar Rapids, IA - Cedar Rapids Kernels third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand has earned his second Midwest League Player of the Month award in 2022, receiving the June honor as announced today by Minor League Baseball. Encarnacion-Strand also earned the April Player of the Month award earlier this season.
The Minnesota Twins' No. 24 prospect per MLB Pipeline slashed .287/.368/.702 for a 1.070 OPS in June, belting 12 doubles and nine home runs while driving in 21. He led the Midwest League in home runs, total bases, slugging and OPS. The 2021 fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma State finished second in doubles and drove in the third-most runs across the league. Of his 27 hits in the month, 21 went for extra bases.
