PEORIA, IL -- The Peoria Chiefs defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 10-0 Friday night at O'Brien Field. Erik Drown pitched six shutout innings to get his first win of the season. Daric Barton had three hits and knocked in a run for the Chiefs. Cody Palmer had a pair of RBI for the Chiefs.

The Chiefs jumped on Rattler starter Eric O'Flaherty for four runs on six hits in the bottom of the first. Cody Haerther had an RBI single. Two runs scored on two different wild pitches by O'Flaherty. The final run scored on an RBI single by Milko Jaramillo.

Peoria added two more runs on a pair of walks and three more hits in the third. John Santor had an RBI single and Palmer drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.

The Chiefs knocked O'Flaherty out of the game with two more runs in the fourth. An RBI fielder's choice by Jaramillo and an RBI single by Palmer made it 8-0. O'Flaherty gave up twelve hits, walked three, threw two wild pitches, and hit a batter.

Wisconsin reliever Kenly Chang's luck was no better. He got the final out of the fourth, but gave up two runs in the fifth. An RBI double by Terry Evans and an RBI single by Barton made it 10-0.

Drown left after six innings. He walked five, struck out five, and gave up three hits.

Game two of the series is set for Friday night at O'Brien Field. Tom Oldham (2-3, 3.42ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers. Kyle McClellan (1-5, 5.21ERA) is the scheduled starter for the Chiefs. Game time is 6:30pm
