Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
The Pensacola Ice Flyers beat the Louisiana IceGators Friday night in The Hangar. It was a hard hitting match as the Ice Flyers got their groove back finding the back of the net three times on the night.
Ice Flyers goalie Ryan Scott received the win as he recorded 26 saves on 27 shots. "We played real well tonight ... and looked like our old selves again.
We're all real proud of the boys." Head Coach Todd Gordon stated.
The Louisiana IceGators put up a fight and kept the match tied or within one for most of the night. Pensacola lit up the boards first when Tyler Soehner found Erik Stoyanovich with just under five minutes to play in the 1st period. The IceGators would not let be down for long, however, and Ryan Fultz slipped the puck past Ice Flyers' net minder Ryan Scott for the 1st and last IceGator goal of the night.
The 2nd period would remain a tie through the entire twenty minutes as both teams' offenses struggled against admirable performances by both goaltenders.
The Pensacola Ice Flyers would take little time to get to work in the 3rd as Captain Mark Hinz scored off the Power Play. Pensacola would end the night 1 for 4 with the man advantage while Louisiana went 1-7. Tyler Lyon would put the nail in the IceGator's coffin when he slipped the marker past Mike Brown in the 17th minute of the 3rd period.
The Ice Flyers return to The Hangar on Thursday to face the Fayetteville FireAntz. For additional information on games or promotions call (850) 466-3111 or visit www.pensacolaiceflyers.com.
