Sat., Feb. 21 - PENGUINS 2 vs. Providence 0
Matt Murray made 22 saves and recorded his seventh shutout of the season in a 2-0 win against the Providence Bruins. After a scoreless first period, Scott Wilson was able to find the back of the net at 13:30 of the second during the last few seconds of a W-B/Scranton power play. Conor Sheary assisted on the goal and would later add an empty- net tally to seal the victory.
Sun., Feb. 22 - Penguins 4 at HARTFORD 1
Andrew Ebbett scored two goals and Tom Kostopoulos had two assists in W-B/Scranton's 4-1 victory over Hartford. Starting the second period off tied, 1-1, the Penguins would control much of the second with a 12-2 shot advantage.
Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond capitalized at 6:55, gathering his first goal of the season and the eventual game-winner. Jeff Zatkoff stopped 22-of-23 in net for the Penguins.
The Week Ahead
Sat., Feb. 28 - Penguins at HARTFORD
Hartford (30-17-4-3) is currently second place in the Northeast Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of the Penguins. Hartford's loss to the Penguins on Feb. 22 ended an eight-game home winning streak. Chris Bourque's 45 points (20G-25A) is tied for seventh-best in the AHL, while his nine power play goals rank fifth.
Sun., Mar. 1 - Penguins at BRIDGEPORT
Bridgeport (21-26-5-1) is winless in its last six games and has fallen to fifth place in the Northeast Division. The Sound Tigers' home power play unit is tied for first in the AHL with a success rate of 25.0% (24-for-136). Of Ryan Pulock's 12 goals, 10 have been scored on the man-advantage, ranking the rookie defenseman second overall in the league.
Ice Chips
- Matt Murray has registered shutouts in four of his last six starts, allowing just four goals in 150 shots. He currently leads the AHL with in goals against average (1.72), save percentage (.934) and shutouts (7).
- With his shutout on Saturday, Murray tied the team record for shutouts in a season (7) set by Brad Thiessen in 2010-11. The shutout total is the most by a rookie since Bridgeport's Wade Dubielewicz posted nine during the 2003-04 season.
- Andrew Ebbett and Tom Kostopoulos both hit milestones on Sunday against Hartford. Ebbett grabbed his 100th AHL goal, while Kostopoulos gathered his 400th AHL point.
- With two wins over the weekend, the Penguins extended their season-high point streak to eight games (6-0-1-1).
- Rookie Conor Sheary has registered 10 points (3G-7A) over his current eight-game point streak.
