Wednesday, Feb. 18: Binghamton 4, Lehigh Valley 3 (OT)

The Binghamton Senators twice overcame a one-goal third period deficit to defeat their host Lehigh Valley Phantoms in overtime 4-3. The B-Sens Aaron Johnson notched the game-winning tally with just 11 seconds remaining in the extra period to give Binghamton the come-from-behind victory.

Zack Stortini swatted home his 11th of the season 1:29 into the opening period to give the Phantoms the 1-0 lead. Petr Straka doubled Lehigh Valley's lead with just over six minutes remaining in the frame to give the hosts the 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. Scott Greenham stopped 9 of 11 shots while Anthony Stolarz stonewalled all 16 Binghamton tries in the opening 20 minutes.

Binghamton managed to cut the lead to 2-1 2:36 into the second when Garrett Thompson redirected a shot from Chris Wideman past Stolarz for his fifth marker of the year. Despite outshooting the Phantoms 13-7 over the middle frame, the B-Sens skated into the final intermission break trailing by a goal.

Darren Kramer ramped home his fourth tally of the season with less than four minutes remaining in regulation to even the score at 2-2, but Lehigh Valley stormed right back as Jason Akeson scored less than one minute later to regain the one-goal lead for the Phantoms. With Greenham on the bench in favor of an extra Binghamton skater, Colin Greening redirected a slap shot from Alex Grant past Stolarz with just 43 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

While each team traded great scoring chances over the sudden-death period, it was Johnson who gave the B-Sens their first lead of the night on his game-winning goal 6:49 into the seven-minute overtime period.

Wideman finished with three assists while Thompson earned his first professional multi-point night with a goal and an assist. Greenham finished with 33 saves to improve to 9-6-2 on the year while Stolarz allowed four goals on 44 shots faced to drop to 7-11-1.

Friday, Feb. 20: Hershey 3, Binghamton 5

PP: Binghamton 1 for 1, Hershey 0 for 2

The Binghamton Senators overcame a 2-0 first period deficit to comeback for a 5-3 victory over the visiting Hershey Bears. The B-Sens registered three unanswered goals in the second period while holding the Bears to just 10 shots on goal over the final 40 minutes of play to earn their first regulation victory over their division rival this season.

Hershey jumped out to a 2-0 lead less than five minutes into the first period on goals from Casey Wellman and Tomas Kundratek, respectively. Hershey outshot Binghamton 19-13 through the first 20 minutes of play to take the two-goal lead into the first intermission break.

Cole Schneider cut the Bears' lead to 2-1 at 2:50 of the second when he backhanded a feed from Carter Camper past Hershey's Philipp Grubauer for his 17th goal of the season. Camper evened the score 2-2 with less than seven minutes to play in the period when he took a feed from Schneider in the slot and beat Grubauer for his eighth of the year. Less than two minutes later, Binghamton's power-play unit grabbed the 3-2 lead when Derek Grant tipped a shot from Alex Grant into the back of the net. The B-Sens went into the final intermission break with the one-goal advantage.

Just past the midway point of the third period, Ryan Dzingel recovered a puck behind the Hershey net before finding Alex Guptill alone in front of Grubauer who beat the Bears' netminder for his fifth tally of the year to push the score to 4-2. Hershey's Philippe Cornet recorded his eighth of the year with less than four minutes to play to cut the B-Sens' lead to 4-3, but Greening scored an empty-netter with less than 30 seconds to play to push the final score to 5-3 Binghamton.

Shane Prince finished with three assists for the B-Sens while Camper and Schneider each added a goal and an assist. Greenham stopped 26 of 29 shots faced to earn his 10th win of the year. Grubauer allowed four goals on 32 shots faced to drop to 19-10-4-5 for the season.

Saturday, Feb. 21: Binghamton 3, Syracuse 5

PP: Binghamton 0 for 3, Syracuse 1 for 6

The Binghamton Senators failed to make it three wins in a row as they fell 5-3 to their host Syracuse Crunch.

Camper opened the night's scoring with his 9th goal of the season 3:46 into the first period. Prince and Schneider helped Camper finish a tic-tac-toe sequence over the glove hand of Crunch's goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis. Syracuse answered a little over three minutes later when Jake Dotchin notched his 4th goal of the year off assists from Mike Angelidis and Henri Ikonen. Carter Ashton made it a 2-1 game with 15 seconds remaining in the first with assists from Yanni Gourde and Slater Koekkoek. The Crunch led the B-Sens 11-7 in shots heading into the first intermission.

Just 1:32 in to the second period, Joel Vermin pushed the score to 3-1 with his 9th goal of the season. Thompson answered back for the B-Sens at the 8:24 mark after Max McCormick fought off a Crunch double team and forced the puck into the slot. Binghamton skated to the dressing room trailing 3-2.

Angelidis got his second point on the night with a power-play goal 7:53 into the final period, but Greening brought it back to a one-goal game 14:48 with a shorthanded backhanded shot set up by Patrick Mullen. With B-Sens' Peter Mannino on the bench in favor of an extra skater, Gourde pushed the game out of reach with an empty-net tally at the 19:37 mark.

Gudlevskis finished the night with 24 saves on 27 shots while Mannino saved 36 shots falling to 3-7-2 for the year.

SENS SNIPPETS...

Forward Derek Grant has compiled six points (two goals, four assists) over the last five games played. Grant, who has spent parts of the last five seasons with Binghamton, has 17 goals on the year which places his in a tie for second among all B-Sens skaters.

Since returning from a six-game absence due to injury, forward Cole Schneider has scored ten points (five goals, five assists) in the last 14 games played. Schneider ranks third among the B-Sens with 34 points (17 goals, 17 assists) in just 46 games played.

Rookie forward Garrett Thompson notched his first professional multi-point game (one goal, one assist) this past Wednesday, February 18, in Binghamton's 4-3 overtime win in Lehigh Valley. Thompson, who has 12 points (six goals, six assists) in 44 games played this year, has three goals and an assist in his past four games.
