
Penguins Reduce Training Camp Roster to 24

WILKES-BARRE, PA. â The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have reduced their training camp roster by five, it was announced today by Head Coach Michel Therrien.
The Penguins released forwards Kenny Corupe, Patrick Foley and Patrick Levesque and have assigned forward Steve Crampton and defenseman Alexandre Rouleau to their East Coast Hockey League affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers. Corupe, Foley and Levesque are expected to attend Wheeling's training camp.
Corupe, 24, recorded one goal (penalty shot) in three preseason games with the Penguins. The 6'1", 195-pound native of Hamilton, Ontario attended training camp on a tryout basis.
Foley, 23, appeared in two preseason games, going scoreless with 21 penalty minutes. The 6'1", 228-pound native of Boston, Massachusetts was drafted by Pittsburgh in the sixth round (185th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Levesque, 20, skated in two preseason games, going scoreless with nine penalty minutes. The 6'2", 21-pound native of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec attended training camp on a tryout basis.
Crampton, 22, was scoreless with seven penalty minutes in two preseason games. The 6'3", 208-pound native of Winnipeg, Manitoba was drafted by Pittsburgh in the eighth round (248th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Rouleau, 21, appeared in three preseason matches, going scoreless with nine penalty minutes. The 6'1", 194-pound native of Mont.-Laurier, Quebec was drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round (96th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
With today's moves, the Penguins' training camp roster now stands at 24 - two goaltenders, eight defensemen and 14 forwards. The following is a list of the 24 players remaining in the Penguins' training camp:
Goaltenders: Andy Chiodo and Marc-Andre Fleury
Defensemen: Drew Fata, Chris Kelleher, David Koci, Ross Lupaschuk (injured), Alain Nasreddine, Darcy Robinson, Rob Scuderi and Ryan Whitney
Forwards: Ramzi Abid, Colby Armstrong, Kris Beech, Erik Christensen, Ben Eaves (injured), Shane Endicott, Matt Hussey, Guillaume Lefebvre, Pascal Morency, Matt Murley, Michel Ouellet, Cam Paddock, Tomas Surovy and Maxime Talbot
The Penguins open the 2004-05 regular season on Wednesday against the Manitoba Moose at 7:05 PM at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
INJURY UPDATE: Defenseman Ross Lupaschuk is expected to be out two months with a strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee. Lupaschuk suffered the injury in the second period of Friday's game at Binghamton.
