
P-Bruins win pre-season finale

The Providence Bruins concluded their 2004 pre-season slate of games on Sunday afternoon at the Bridgewater Ice Arena in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, skating to a 3-2 victory over the Springfield Falcons. The Bruins, who outshot Springfield, 33-23, finished the pre-season with a 2-2-0-0 record.
Bruin forwards Andy Hilbert and Jay Henderson paced the attack, with Hilbert scoring a goal and adding two assists. Henderson notched a goal and an assist. Defenseman Matthieu Descoteaux tallied the game-winner in the second period on his first goal of the pre-season, while fellow blueliner Kevin Dallman had two assists. Hilbert (1-2-3 in two games) and forward Ben Guite (2-1-3 in three games) were the Bruins' scoring leaders in the pre-season.
Goaltender Matt Underhill stopped eight of the 10 shots he faced for the win in 29:17 of action. Peter Hamerlik stopped all 13 shots he faced, while playing 30:43.
Head coach Scott Gordon and his club kick off the regular season on Friday, October 15 at 7:05 p.m., when they host the Falcons at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence.
