Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced a transaction, which takes effect immediately. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have recalled forward Carter Rowney.

Rowney, 24, is in the midst of a tremendous rookie season, as he leaves Wheeling in a seventh place tie among first year players in the ECHL, having accumulated 13 goals and 44 points in 39 games, while leading the team with a +23 rating. While Carter's most memorable contest with the Nailers was his first career hat trick on November 8th, his most successful stretch has come during the last 12 games, as he has racked up 19 points, including a pair of four-point nights on March 2nd and 14th. That run has risen the Sexsmith, AB native into a tie for second place on the team in scoring. In addition to his time with the Nailers, Rowney has also appeared in 16 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording one goal, two assists, and three points.

Carter Rowney and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will be in action on Wednesday night, when they play host to the Providence Bruins. The Wheeling Nailers will begin a six-game homestand on Friday night, when they collide with the Toledo Walleye at 7:00.
