Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release
WILKES-BARRE, PA - Fans are encouraged to come early and celebrate the return of National Hockey League action to the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza this week. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will be hosting a pair of outdoor, pre-game parties from 5:00pm-6:30pm, prior to the Pittsburgh Penguins' NHL exhibition games on Wednesday and Saturday.
On Wednesday, party band Just Two Guys, who recently opened for Meatloaf at Montage Mountain, will entertain the pre-game audience outside of the Wachovia Arena East Gate. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase prior to the 7:05pm clash with the Boston Bruins.
On Saturday, Pittsburgh-area country band North of the Mason Dixon (NOMaD), who have opened up for Toby Keith, will get the joint jumping before the Penguins take on the Ottawa Senators at 7:05pm. Food and beverages will once again be available for purchase.
Additionally, the Penguins will be doing their part to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina while the parent club is in town. Representatives from the Red Cross will be stationed outside Wachovia Arena prior to both exhibition games, collecting cash donations for the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.
The Penguins will also be raffling off a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey autographed by team captain and NHL Hall of Fame member, Mario Lemieux, during the Boston game, and a stick autographed by the entire Pittsburgh team during the Ottawa game. All proceeds from the raffles will be given to the Red Cross.
Tickets to both of the Pittsburgh Penguins preseason contests are still available, and can be purchased at the Wachovia Arena Box Office, at all TicketMaster locations, by phone at (570) 693-4100 or on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.
The relief efforts will continue before the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins' three preseason contests, with the Salvation Army collecting monetary donations and non-perishable food items, which will be distributed to victims of the hurricane who have been temporarily relocated to Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Penguins will also be holding a number of auctions featuring autographed jerseys during their exhibition games against the Hershey Bears on Sunday, Sept. 25, the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and the Binghamton Senators on Saturday, Oct. 1, with all proceeds going to the Salvation Army's relief efforts.
In addition, for every ticket sold to the Saturday, Oct. 1 game against the Binghamton Senators through TicketMaster or at the Wachovia Arena Box Office, the Penguins will donate $3.00 to the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
To purchase tickets to this game, or any of the Penguins' preseason contests, call (570) 693-4100, log on to www.ticketmaster.com or visit the Wachovia Arena Box Office.
