Penguins Assign Goaltender Dany Sabourin to Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today assigned goaltender Dany Sabourin (SA-boo-rihn) to their East Coast Hockey League affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers.

Sabourin, 24, split last season between Lowell (AHL), Calgary (NHL) and Las Vegas (ECHL). In 14 games with the Lock Monsters, he had a record of 5-7-2 and a 2.85 goals against average. In four games with the Flames, he posted a record of 0-3 with a 3.55 goals against average. He was recalled from Lowell on October 19 and made his NHL debut against the Dallas Stars on Oct. 29. Sabourin was reassigned to Las Vegas on February 26 and posted a record of 6-3-1 and a 2.35 goals against average in 10 games with the Wranglers.

The 6'2", 182-pound native of Val-d'Or, Quebec was drafted by Calgary in the fifth round (108th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

He was signed by the Penguins to an American Hockey League contract on September 25, 2004.

With the move, the Penguins' training camp roster now stands at 29 and consists of 18 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders.

The Penguins (2-0-0-0) continue their preseason schedule tomorrow night when they host the Syracuse Crunch (1-0-0-1). Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
