Pelicans Shutout in 2-0 Loss to GreenJackets in 12 Innings

In a game that didn't see a run cross the plate until the top of the 12th, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans fell in extra innings to the Augusta GreenJackets 2-0 on Thursday night. It was the first loss for the Birds in extras this season. With the loss, the Pelicans dropped to 11-18 while the GreenJackets moved up to 14-15.

Myrtle Beach's pitching staff continued their dominance with 23 combined strikeouts. Starter Marino Santy tallied a career-high nine strikeouts through five shutout innings in his start. Kenyi Perez pitched three shutout innings with a season-high seven strikeouts in his outing. Reliever Shane Marshall (0-1) gave up the winning two runs to take the loss.

All five hits for the Birds were singles as Myrtle Beach went 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven on base. Wally Soto (1-2, BB) was the only batter to reach base safely twice in the loss.

Augusta reliever Davis Polo (1-3) came out and threw six innings with three hits allowed and no runs while striking out six to get the win. LJ McDonough tossed the final inning to pick up his second save of the year.

Pier-Olivier Boucher (1-4, 2 RBI, 2 BB) drove in the winning run with a two-run single with the bases loaded in the top of the 12th. All five hits for the GreenJackets were singles as they left 18 runners on base and went 1-for-17 with runners in scoring position.

The series continues on Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
