
Pelicans Return Home On Heels Of Record Setting Week

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will open their second homestand of the season on Monday, April 21st at 7:05 PM against Southern Divisional rival Lynchburg at BB&T Coastal Field. The activity-filled week will feature two three-game series, with the Lynchburg Hillcats (Pittsburgh Pirates) on the Grand Strand April, 21 - April, 23 and the Salem Avalanche (Houston Astros) paying the Pelicans their first visit April 24 - April 26. All game times in the homestand are scheduled for 7:05 PM.
The team recently celebrated a historic opening homestand as they set a new franchise record for single-game attendance during their home opener (6,334), welcomed the fourth largest crowd in team history and largest Sunday crowd in the team's existence (5,640) and established a new mark for a three-game series over the course of the home opening weekend (15,010).
To open the week, the Pelicans will host Greek/Toga Night on Monday. All fans our encouraged to don togas and participate in the first-ever Toga Party at the ballpark. On Tuesday, the Pelicans host Kiwanis Night and celebrate Earth Day with their Going Green promotion. The Pelicans will be promoting and educating fans about recycling and saving energy.
On Wednesday, as they close out their three-game series with Lynchburg, the team holds Pennsylvania Night. Also, the winners of Splash's first annual student essay contest will be honored on the field prior to the game.
As the Pelicans welcome in the Salem Avalanche on Thursday, they hold the first ever Motorboatin' Night and welcome boating enthusiasts of all ages. Aquatic based promotions will be the theme of the night at the ballpark. Thursday is also the first Thirsty Thursday of the season presented by Land Shark Lager and Malibu's Surf Bar. The special pre-game happy hour will feature $1 draft beer from 5:30-7:30 PM at the ballpark.
Friday, fans can get their hands on the 2008 Pelicans Team Poster presented by Inlet Printing. The first 2,000 of all ages will receive the poster on their way into the ballpark. The Pelicans also welcome Splash's Student All-Stars and host Socastee Band Spirit Night.
On Saturday, April 26th, the Pelicans close out the second homestand of the season with the 3rd Annual Pink Ribbon Night presented by Carolina Forest Imaging. The team will give out Pink Baseball Bracelets courtesy of Carolina Forest Imaging to the first 2,000 women in attendance. The team will also auction off special Pelicans' pink jerseys to benefit Caring In Our Lifetime. Following the ballgame, the first scout sleepover of the season will take place on the field.
