Frederick Keys News Release
All throughout it was the Keys who's potential rallies sputtered but in the bottom of the eighth inning the Winston-Salem Warthogs third hit of the ballgame doomed the Keys, scoring two runs with two outs to deliver the decisive blow in a 3-2 Keys loss. Warthogs 1B Brandon Allen provided the double that gave his club their lone lead of the game.
Keys starter Jake Arrieta was fantastic. The right-hander dominated with a power fastball throughout, striking out eight batters in his 7 and 1/3rd innings leaving with the lead.
But in the end the final potential rally was the one that finally came to fruition.
Frederick would strand multiple runners on base in the first, third and fifth innings without scoring. Their lone runs came from a Jason White RBI-double in the fourth inning and Todd Davison's dash to the plate after a passed ball in the eighth inning.
White had his first multi-hit game as a Key going 2-for-4 with the RBI. Davison was outstanding going 3-for-3 with a run scored.
The Keys finish their four-game series with Winston-Salem looking for a split at 2:00 p.m. Frederick returns home for Kids Eat Free Monday presented by Giant Eagle against Wilmington April 21st at 7:00 p.m. For tickets call the Keys Box Office at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or online at frederickkeys.com
