OVERVIEW ... The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are celebrating their 15th Anniversary season on the Grand Strand and are in their third season as the Advanced-A affiliates of the Texas Rangers. More than 3 million fans have attended a regular season Pelicans game since the franchise's inception in 1999. The Pelicans have amassed exactly 1,000 regular season wins.

RECENTLY ... The Pelicans (14-9) erased a three-run deficit Sunday and outlasted the Potomac Nationals 9-5 at TicketReturn.com Field. The Birds took two of three from the Nats and own the best record in the Carolina League. The Pelicans hit .283 on the recent seven-game home stand and averaged 5.29 runs per game. The Pelicans are in the midst of a stretch of 14 straight games against either Frederick or Potomac.

MAKING 'EM COUNT ... Edwin Garcia has six hits in 31 at-bats this season for a .194 average. Three of his hits are doubles and four have been run-producing knocks. The infielder had two hits and drove in three Sunday.

HARVEY MAKING A DENT ... Pelicans right-hander Ryan Harvey has allowed just two hits in 35 at-bats this season and has the lowest opponent's batting average (.057) among qualifying relievers. Harvey has allowed just one earned run in 11 innings in 2013. Harvey did not allow an earned run in his final 12 innings last season and has allowed just one tally in his last 23 innings.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN ... Starting tonight, the Pelicans play their next seven games on the road where they have posted a .207 team batting average in 10 games. Only Frederick (.192) and Winston-Salem (.201) have a worse road batting average.

UP NEXT ... The Pelicans beginning a four-game series tonight with the Frederick Keys before wrapping up the road swing with three in Potomac. The Pelicans return home on Tuesday, May 7. It will be a "Team Tuesday" presented by Sheriar Press with the first 1,000 fans receiving a Jason Heyward poster.

COACHING STAFF ... Jason Wood returns for his third season as the Pelicans skipper and his fifth as a coach in the Rangers system. He is the only Carolina League skipper to have guided his team to back-to-back postseasons in 2011 and 2012. His staff includes pitching coach Steve Mintz, hitting coach Josue Perez and assistant Humberto Miranda - all three in their first year with the Birds.
