Pelicans make Northern Division trip

Pensacola heads to St. Paul, MN for the second longest road trip of the season to take on the highly esteemed St. Paul Saints in a three-game series. After their stint in St. Paul, the Pelicans end their road trip with a three-game stop in Missouri to play the St. Joseph Blacksnakes. This is the only time this season the Pelicans make the trip to play the Northern Division teams.

This series will be a battle of second place teams each fighting for their respective first half division title. St. Paul is 3.5 games back with eight games to play in the first half while Pensacola is only one half game back with only six games remaining.

The Pelicans are in second place in the league in hitting (.295) only four tenths behind the first place Lincoln Saltdogs (.299). St. Paul is closely behind in third position (.287). Trino Aguilar and Ed Montague are atop the league hitting leaders, .374 and .371 respectfully.

Pensacola also has the advantage over St. Paul in the pitching department. The Pels team ERA is 3.59 slightly above the Saints of 3.76. As a team, the Pelicans have struck out 316 batters and walked 171 which leads the league in the both categories.

On paper, these two teams appear to be evenly matched and should make for an exciting last week of baseball action before the end of the first half.
