Pelicans' Golliner Purchased by Anaheim Angels

Pensacola Pelicans News Release

The Pensacola Pelicans announced today that catcher David Golliner has been purchased by the Anaheim Angels of Los Angels. Golliner will report to the single-A Cedar Rapids Colonels of the Midwest League. He is the first player from the Pelicans to be sold to a MLB club this season.

Golliner, a Florida Southern College graduate, appeared in only two games since signing with Pelicans on July 5. As a senior for the Moccasins, Golliner was voted Team MVP for his .351 batting average and team high, 12 homeruns, and 51 RBI. As a junior, he received NCAA South Regional All-Tournament Team honors for the Mocs.

The Miami, FL resident becomes the Pelicans nineteenth player to be purchased by a MLB team. The last one was catcher Joe Hulett, who signed with the Texas Rangers in February.
