Sioux Falls 3B Grant Richardson accounted for all of the runs for the Canaries thanks to his two-run home run in the sixth inning that lifted the Canaries over the Wingnuts in game one of the doubleheader. Sioux Falls starting pitcher Ryan Ford allowed one run on six hits through 5 1/3 innings to earn the victory, running his record to 8-3 on the year. Canaries closer Kris Regas tossed a solid seventh inning to earn his 18th save of the season. Richardson finished the game 1-for-4 with the home run.

Wichita 5, Sioux Falls 1 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

After dropping game one of the doubleheader at home, Wichita came out swinging in game two, scoring four times in the second inning and never looking back, en route to the win. Wingnuts starting pitcher Richard Salazar held Sioux Falls at bay, allowing two runs on six hits through six innings to notch the win and run his record to 3-3 on the season. Wingnuts 2B Brenan Herrera led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI.

St. Paul 3, Shreveport 0

St. Paul starting pitcher Dustin Bolton tossed a gem on the road, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out three en route to a complete game shutout. The win for Bolton runs his record to 4-2 on the year and puts the Saints a game above .500 in the second half. Bolton's performance overshadowed that of his opponent, Shreveport starter Thad Markray, who also pitched well. Markray allowed three runs, one earned, on eight hits while fanning nine in eight innings of work, but suffered the tough-luck loss. Saints DH Pichi Balet did the majority of the damage at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Lincoln used four long balls to power its way past Sioux City at home, moving a game above .500 in the second half. Saltdogs LF Matt Maloney led all hitters in the game, going 4-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored. Lincoln 2B Skip Adams also homered and was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. Lincoln starting pitcher Ryan Trytten was the beneficiary of the run support. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out five in five innings of work to earn the win and run his record to 4-4 on the year.

Fort Worth 5, Pensacola 1

The Fort Worth Cats started swinging the bats early, gaining a 3-0 lead after three innings, as they went on to beat Pensacola easily at home. The Cats duo of 1B Nilson Teilon and DH John Allen did the bulk of the damage. They combined to go 2-for-6 with a home run each, three runs scored and three RBI. Fort Worth starting pitcher Lee Gwaltney took care of the rest. He allowed one run on six hits and struck out five in seven innings of work to get the win and improve to 7-0 on the year.
