Myrtle Beach Pelicans (58-33, 13-8) vs. Frederick Keys (41-51, 7-15)

Sunday, July 13 -- 6:00 PM

Harry Grove Stadium -- Frederick, MD

Game #92, Road Game #49

TODAY'S GAME AT A GLANCE: The Pelicans are again soaring, having won four consecutive games to ascend to the top spot in the Southern Division in the second half. With a dramatic, 9-8, victory last night, the Pelicans have won 10-of-13 meetings with the Frederick Keys this season and have assured at least a season-series split. They have gone 6-1 at Harry Grove Stadium where they will have three chances in the next three nights to claim the 2008 season-series. Last night marked the third consecutive ballgame that the Pelicans have staged a comeback in the eighth inning.

TODAY'S PITCHERS: In a meeting of right-handers, Jeff Lyman makes his second start of the season against Frederick. He is opposed by Jake Renshaw who makes his fourth start against Myrtle Beach.

Lyman: Making his fourth start of the season after transitioning from the bullpen into the rotation on June 21st. In his three starts, he has posted a 1-0 record with a 1.29 ERA. In 14.0 innings, he has allowed 10 hits and two earned runs. Lyman was solid in his last start (7/6 vs. WIL), when he went five innings and allowed six hits and two runs. He also struck out four. In each of his three starts, Lyman has blanked the opposition in the first inning. All told, he has allowed 43 hits and 20 runs in 58.0 total innings. His best start actually came against the Keys (6/30) when he allowed just a single hit and no runs in five innings. He also fanned a season-high seven batters.

The native of San Francisco, California was selected in the second round of the 2005 draft (77th overall). The only current Pelican who was drafted higher is Eric Campbell, who was also taken in the second round (71st overall) of the '04 draft. Last season, Lyman was in the Rome Braves starting rotation for the entire campaign. He made 20 starts and posted a 5-8 record with a 4.59 ERA.

Renshaw: Provides a familiar foe for the Pelicans, having started against them three times. The last time out against Myrtle Beach, Renshaw was hit hard, chased in the third inning having conceded nine hits and seven runs. All told against the Birds, Renshaw has allowed 13 runs on 19 hits over 16 1/3 innings.

Was acquired by White Sox from the Chicago Cubs in a trade for Steve Trachsel in August of 2007. A native of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, he posted a 12-8 record while with the Peoria Chiefs last seasons.

MULTI-HOME RUN BIRDS: On Friday night against Salem, Eric Campbell notched two home runs in his first two at-bats. The Pelicans have now recorded nine multi-home run games in 2008. In franchise history, the Birds have now compiled 33 multi-home run games. Eric Campbell had three multi-home run games in 2007, for a Pelicans record total of five two home run games in his career. Tyler Flowers is the only other Pelican to post two multi-home run nights in '08. With three home runs last night, the Pelicans have now amassed 103 home runs in 2008, which is two home runs away from tying the franchise record.

DOUBLE-DIGIT STREAK...AGAIN: Although it has been a relatively quiet stretch for Jones, he is currently riding a season-long 13-game hitting streak (14-48, .288). For the ninth time in 2008, the Pelicans have a player riding a double-digit hit streak. Jones, Ernesto Mejia and Jon Mark Owings have all notched multiple double-digit hit streaks.

RECORD WATCHING: With another home run last night, Eric Campbell moved one blast closer to Isaiah Ka'aihue (2006-07), who recorded 35 home runs in his two seasons with the Birds. Campbell has now hit 25 between his two seasons on the Grand Strand...Pelicans catcher Tyler Flowers walked three times on Friday night to move within four walks of the single-season franchise record. Matt Young walked 71 times in 2006...Ernesto Mejia has 30 doubles on the 2008 season, which is tied for 10th best in a single-season. The Pelicans franchise record of 40, set back in 1999 by Marcus Giles is in serious jeopardy.
