Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release

For just the second time this week, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans lost to the Columbia Fireflies 7-1 on Saturday night. With the loss, the Birds dropped to 65-47 and 26-21 in the second half while the Fireflies moved to 57-55 and 22-25 in the second half.

Reliever Erian Rodriguez (5-6) gave up six hits and a walk as he took the loss with four runs, three earned allowed across 2 2/3 innings. Starter Drew Gray was able to break free of some early pressure, striking out five in two innings with a pair of hits and walks allowed.

Jared Dickey (3-4, 3B, 3 RBI, BB) was the standout player in the Fireflies' lineup with a three-hit game, including two RBI singles and an RBI triple. Carson Roccaforte (2-4, RBI, BB) also brought home a run and Lizandro Rodriguez (1-3, 2B, RBI) scored two runs while knocking in one more.

Starter Oscar Rayo (4-2) fell one out shy of a seven-inning outing as he gave up just one earned run and struck out three to earn the victory. The bullpen held the Birds quiet in the final 2 1/3 innings.

Sunday's series finale is set for 5:05 p.m.
