
Pelicans and Air Hogs Split Twin Bill

The Pensacola Pelicans and Grand Prairie Air Hogs split a doubleheader on Wednesday night. Pensacola won the first game by a 9-5 final, and Grand Prairie took the second contest 6-5.
The winning pitcher in game one was Dane DeValk. He improved to 3-1. Kieran Mattison took the loss to fall to 3-3. Ron Hill earned the save for the Pels, his first of the year. For the Pelicans at the plate, Chase Burch went 4-4 with a pair of singles and a pair of doubles. Rafael Alvarez hit a three run homer as part of a seven-run bottom of the first. Marcos Rodriguez, Antoin Gray, and Jimmy Mojica all had two hits apiece.
In game two, Grand Prairie took revenge, winning 6-5. Luke Prihoda earned the victory, his second in an undefeated year. James Morris picked up his sixth save of the year as Brent Solich was hit for the loss. Pelicans' starter Randy Beam went 5.1 innings allowing five earned runs and striking out six.
At the plate in game two, Aaron Garza went 3-4 for the Air Hogs with a homerun. Cesar Nicolas also went deep, his fourth against Pensacola and his fifth of the year. Two Pelicans cleared the fence: Antoin Gray hit number five of the year, and Chase Burch retained the team lead with his sixth dinger. Burch led the Pelicans at the plate going 2-3.
