Lancaster Stormers News Release

Left-handed pitcher Ross Peeples has signed on for his ninth season in a Lancaster Barnstormers uniform, it was announced today by manager Butch Hobson.

Peeples, 33, becomes only the second player in Atlantic League history to spend nine seasons with one franchise.

He has appeared in 267 games for Lancaster over the previous eight seasons and needs to enter 30 games in 2013 to set the league record for most appearances with one team. With 45 outings, he will have appeared in more games than any other pitcher in Atlantic League history.

Peeples signed with the New York Mets in 2000 out of Middle Georgia Junior College. The southpaw was the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Year in his second professional season, posting a 9-3 record and 1.34 ERA for Class A Brooklyn. The following season, he ranked among the South Atlantic League's ERA leaders at 2.43.

He was a member of the Barnstormers starting rotation in the inaugural season of 2005 and threw the first complete game shutout in franchise history in August of that year. He returned to the rotation and earned the Opening Night start in 2011.

Last year, he was 1-0 with a 2.78 ERA in 38 relief outings.

The Georgia native is married and resides in Lancaster. He worked in ticket sales and community relations for the ballclub during the off-season while also giving private pitching lessons.

"Ross is simply a quality individual," said Hobson. "He throws strikes and competes. Plus, he is a great clubhouse guy."

The Lancaster Barnstormers are entering their ninth season as a member of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Home games are played at Clipper Magazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Please call 717.509.HITS (4487) or visit LancasterBarnstormers.com for more information.
