Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa-As the Waterloo Black Hawks continue to enjoy team success, the United States Hockey League continues to recognize the club's top performers, this week naming Liam Pecararo the co-winner of its CCM Forward of the Week Award.

Friday in Sioux Falls, Pecararo helped extend Waterloo's winning streak to eight consecutive games, victimizing the Stampede for his first USHL hat trick. The University of Maine recruit scored his first goal of the night during the second period, then helped stifle a Sioux Falls comeback with two more in the third during the 8-3 decision. Saturday, the Hawks won their ninth-in-a-row, claiming a 3-1 victory versus the Des Moines Buccaneers. Pecararo had a hand in the third Waterloo tally, redirecting a shot by Mark Friedman. The Canton, Massachusetts native now has a personal streak of points recorded during four straight games; in that time, he has four goals and three assists.

Appearing in 25 of the Hawks' first 31 contests, Pecararo ranks second in team scoring, with 29 points from 11 goals and 18 assists. All but four of his points have been recorded at even strength, helping to boost his plus/minus rating to a team-best +19 this season. That mark ranks seventh overall in the USHL. Pecararo's next goal will be his 20th in league play since making his debut for the Hawks in November 2012, after having been Waterloo's first selection during the 2012 USHL Futures Draft.

Pecararo shares the Forward of the Week title with Kyle Connor of the Youngstown Phantoms. Waterloo and Youngstown face each other in eastern Ohio on Friday.

This is the fourth consecutive week a Black Hawk has earned one of the USHL's weekly player awards and the second consecutive time a Waterloo forward has been recognized. Tyler Sheehy was in the spotlight last Monday. A member of the Hawks has now earned a commendation from the league on ten occasions this season.
