CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A great pitching performance from Pedro Payano fell short Monday night in Corpus Christi, as the RoughRiders fell 6-4 in walk-off fashion to the Hooks.
SYNOPSIS
* Payano logged 6 1/3 innings, yielding two runs on three hits. He opened the night with six scoreless innings and faced the minimum in that span.
* The Riders took a 2-0 lead in the fourth and broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of runs in the eighth, but Corpus Christi scored four runs in the final two frames, capped by a walk-off homer from Chuckie Robinson in the ninth, to take the series opener.
