Payano Activated from DL

Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

The Blue Wahoos have added LHP Victor Payano to the bullpen. He is activated from the Pensacola disabled list. The Reds signed him to a minor league contract on 11/20/17 after playing in the Miami Marlins organization in 2017. He made nine Southern League appearances for Jacksonville last year going 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA. Most of his time was spent with AAA New Orleans. He appeared 28 times for the Baby Cakes with a pair of starts while compiling a 3.42 ERA. Payano's first outing with Pensacola will be his 2018 debut.

In a corresponding move, INF Alberti Chavez was transferred to the Billings roster. Chavez has played in three games, all at shortstop. He's 0-for-7 at the plate.

Additionally, Danny Darwin has joined the Major League coaching staff as the pitching coach. Reds pitching coordinator Tony Fossas will fill his void until a permanent replacement is assigned.
