Birmingham Barons News Release
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons (6-8) fell behind early and could not muster a comeback as they dropped their fifth straight game, 8-3 to the Jackson Generals (11-2) on Thursday night at The Ballpark at Jackson.
* Moments That Mattered: Jackson was quick to jump on Birmingham starter Jordan Guerrero (L, 1-1). Two runs in each of the first three innings gave the Generals a comfortable 6-0 lead they would not give up. Guerrero surrendered the runs on nine hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
* Turning Point: Guerrero came close to getting out of the biggest jam he faced in the third inning. After the Generals loaded the bases with none out, Guerrero struck out the next two hitters he faced. But before he could get the third out. Jose Querecuto laced a double to right to plate two more runs, extending the Generals' lead.
* Facts And Figures: Jackson starter Sam Lewis (W, 2-1) began the game in fine form. In 5.0 scoreless innings, he held the Barons without a hit. Zack Collins drew two walks to become the only Baron to reach base against the starter.
